Not one of whom would last five minutes with the sort of crap I've had to deal with throughout my adult life.

Y'know, I'm not a radical. But sometimes A la lanterne les aristos! seems the only appropriate response.....

All very true. At the same time, I really, really do want to shake them. It could be so very much worse, and they seem completely oblivious; none of these women seems even close to the desperation that's causing subprime mortgage victims to kill themselves, and I have little doubt that five years from now they're going to be back to shopping at Barney's and eating at the finest restaurants as if nothing had happened.
