1. FIRST WORLD PROBLEMS!

2. These women have very specific problems, stemming from very specific circumstances. When so many people are committing suicide because of the markets, I feel like these women are smart to be building a support network for each other.

The materialism is stomach-turning, but the problems are real. Even if we want to slap them for it. ;)

All very true. At the same time, I really, really do want to shake them. It could be so very much worse, and they seem completely oblivious; none of these women seems even close to the desperation that's causing subprime mortgage victims to kill themselves, and I have little doubt that five years from now they're going to be back to shopping at Barney's and eating at the finest restaurants as if nothing had happened.

Oh, did you click the link to their blog? "The rich are different from you and me..."

I confess, I didn't click the link. I don't like getting that angry this early in the morning.

You are a much better person than I am. Whoever you are...

No matter how reprehensible they may be, they had a plan. And now that plan is sunk.

We may take pleasure in their realization that they're fucked, but I can also acknowledge their terror. As laughable as it might be. ;)

Oh, dear. This makes me think of a conversation another PCV recounted to me recently--she was telling her landlady about the US economic crisis, and the response was, "Crisis? You don't know what a crisis is!"

As bad as things look right now, we're still a long way off from perestroika. ::fingers crossed::

Such wonderfully first-world problems. I don't have an iota of sympathy for them or their male counterparts -- because they're the people who've been getting rich off this shit for a long time.

I have read articles about the Recent Financial Unpleasantness that made me feel sorry for the "victims" (newly-jobless folks with no prospects in their field; homeowners desperate to sell house/condo they can no longer afford; parents faced with disrupting their children's lives by pulling them out of school/extracurriculars)--but this isn't one of them :-/

Two words to describe both the women and their men: Spoiled. Brats.

DAMN! I can't access the story, and it sounds like a really good outlet for the impotent rage I cannot direct at my parents.
