Why I am not going to Pennsic
Warning: not for the faint of heart (or stomach):
I went to the doctor yesterday because of a non-life threatening but increasingly disruptive medical condition. I'd seen a general surgeon for this a couple of years ago and really, really disliked him and his approach, so I canceled the whole thing. Yesterday's doctor was a specialist, and after a talk with him and his nurse, I will be undergoing this procedure on July 12, 2010.
I'm not especially happy about this; I'll be out of work for about a week and a half, plus there's the whole pain/ick/debility factor. I've put it off long enough, though.

"I just got back from a short vacation.
Spent it having a root canal.
Oh? How'd you like it?
Well it ain't that pretty at all."
I'd rather go to Pennsic, but in the long run this needs to be taken care of, so it's not like I have much of a choice...:)
