Right. For the same reason, I don't mind seeing my legislators' pay increased, as long as it comes with restrictions on what they can accept from individuals, corporations, lobbyists, etc. He who pays the piper calls the tune, and I'd rather my elected officials were paid by the public.
I'm a little less impressed by this case because the source of the money was precisely individuals, corporations, lobbyists, etc. rather than taxpayers.
And in any case, the real issue in this case is transparency and hypocrisy.
